When it comes to singing lessons, I’ve learned that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Life is unpredictable, and every student’s situation is unique – so flexibility is key.
As someone who doesn’t drive (I really get how tough it can be to juggle everything!), I aim to make lessons work within my students' busy schedules without compromising on quality.
Life Happens – But Singing Can Still Fit In!
One of my current students travels for work and is based in a different city every few months! When we started working together, we met in person for her Initial Fit lession, which helped us establish a solid foundation. However, because she frequently travels abroad, it quickly became clear that we needed to shift our lessons to an online format.
Three months later, she’s a total beginner who is absolutely flying in her progress. With the help of online sessions, we’ve maintained weekly lessons, ensuring regular contact. As a result, she’s been able to make consistent progress despite the challenges of being constantly on the move. I think this is a great example of how flexibility can work wonders for people with unpredictable schedules and limited time. It’s all about adapting the way you work together to make it work for the individual.
Long Trips, Big Rewards: Making In-Person Sessions Work
Another student of mine lives about 1 hour and 45 minutes away, and she comes to me every three weeks for a longer 90-minute session. While the trip can be a bit of a journey, it’s absolutely worth it for her because we can dive deeper into the material during our in-person time. These longer sessions allow us to go in-depth and work through more complex techniques and ideas.
Having that space every few weeks means that her travel time is used effectively, and the deeper connection we build during those sessions makes it all the more rewarding. We’ve found a great rhythm that keeps things productive and allows her to progress consistently, even though we don’t meet every week.
Your Schedule, Your Lessons: Tailored for You
Whether it’s online lessons, longer in-person sessions, or a mix of both, flexibility allows me to tailor lessons to each student. This approach ensures progress without adding extra stress or overwhelm.
Life’s busy, but with the right structure, singing lessons can fit into your routine without compromising your goals. Whether you’re a busy parent, frequently traveling, or have a packed schedule, there’s always a way to make it work.
The Takeaway
If singing has been on your mind but you’re wondering how to fit it into your busy life, don’t worry! There’s always a way. Whether it’s online lessons or longer sessions when possible, the goal is to make your singing journey enjoyable and progress-driven.
